Google Home Max users, an update will be coming you way soon with a significant improvement to the performance of your smart speaker.
Google has confirmed that it plans to update to Google Home Max to reduce the line-in delay from 550 to 39 milliseconds. That's a huge decrease in latency that ought to make using a line-in source like record player, soundbar, or other source much better.
This update will roll out by the end of this month.
Here's what Chris Chan, Google Home Max Product Manager, said to The Next Web about the update:
"In launching Max, we knew that a vast majority of users would love using the Google Assistant to stream their favorite artist or album. We also learned that many users enjoyed using line-in to bring their personal collections to life. This performance improvement makes Max an even more frictionless experience for those plugging in their record player, smartphone or other audio source."
This is a nice little update for the Google Home Max. While most Google Home Max owners probably use their device primarily as a smart speaker like Google intended, this update will make the subset of Home Max owners that use the line-in feature a lot very happy.
