YouTube Go expanding to 130 more countries, gaining new features

YouTube Go was only available to a limited number of users when it first launched, but today it's expanding in a big way.

YouTube says that YouTube Go is launching in more than 130 countries today. This is in addition to 15 or so other countries that already had access to YouTube Go, like India, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Thailand.

The goal of YouTube Go is to make the video sharing service available to everyone, even if they don't have super fast wireless networks. With YouTube Go, you can see a video preview when you tap on its thumbnail to help you decide if you want to watch it. You can also decide to download a video for later. If you decide to stream a video, YouTube Go will let you decide the amount of data that you want to use streaming it.

YouTube Go is also gaining some new features to celebrate today's expansion. Users can download and stream videos in high quality in addition to basic and standard quality. YouTube Go is getting better at discovery, too, allowing you to get fresh recommendations by pulling the home screen and also notifying you when your favorite channels upload new videos.

Rounding out YouTube Go's new features are sharing improvements. YouTube is making it easier to get YouTube Go's share nearby feature from the app's home page, and it's also allowing multiple videos to be shared at once.

Not everyone has access to unlimited data plans or super fast wireless networks, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be able to get news and entertainment from YouTube. This YouTube Go app helps those people get access to videos on YouTube by giving them clear video streaming options and also letting them download videos if streaming isn't an option.
