Amazon Alexa is coming to mobile devices like headphones and smartwatches

Amazon's Alexa assistant is known best for being in speakers, but it's also present on Amazon's Fire TV devices. And soon, Alexa will be on many more mobile devices, too.

Amazon today announced the Alexa Mobile Accessory Kit, which aims to help bring Alexa to mobile devices like headphones, smartwatches, and fitness devices. The goal of the kit is to enable manufacturers to add Alexa to their devices with minimal hardware or integration efforts.

With the Alexa Mobile Accessory Kit, Bluetooth devices that are audio-capable can connect directly to Alexa Voice Services using the Amazon Alexa app on Android and iOS. Connecting to the Alexa app enables users to stream media, control smart home devices, use Alexa skills, and more.

Companies like Bose, Jabra, iHome, and Beyerdynamic are already working on Alexa-enabled devices using the Alexa Mobile Accessory Kit. There's no word yet on when we'll see these devices launch, but with CES happening next week, we could get a peek at them soon.

With the increased popularity of Amazon's Echo devices comes the spread of Amazon's Alexa assistant. Of course, Amazon would love to get Alexa on even more devices because that'd mean more people invested in using Alexa and its skills.
