Nokia 6 (2018) images and specs leak ahead of official announcement

It was almost exactly one year ago that we were first introduced to the Nokia 6, the first new Nokia-branded Android phone from HMD Global. Now a leak has revealed the 2018 model of that device.

The Nokia 6 (2018) has been revealed by Chinese retailer Suning. The images show a device with a design that's similar to last year's Nokia 6, but with a couple of notable changes. The capacitive buttons and fingerprint reader that were on the front of the Nokia 6 (2017) are gone, and now the fingerprint reader is on the back of the Nokia 6 (2018), below the camera.

When it comes to specs, the Nokia 6 (2018) is packing a Snapdragon 630 processor, up from the Snapdragon 430 found in last year's model. There's 4GB of RAM in there, too, along with 32GB or 64GB of storage and a microSD slot if you need more.

The camera on this new Nokia 6 is a 16-megapixel snapper with an f/2.0 aperture, and around from there's an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Also included is a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display, a 3,000mAh battery, microUSB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

On the software side of things, the Nokia 6 (2018) comes equipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but an upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo is planned.

Should these leaked details hold true, the Nokia 6 (2018) looks like a solid upgrade to last year's model. It retains features like 4GB of RAM and an aluminum body that'll give a more premium feel and upgrades the processor to a more powerful Snapdragon 630. Plus, the Nokia 6 (2018) shouldn't be too hard on buyers' wallets, with pricing in China expected to be CNY1499 ($240 USD) for the 32GB model and CNY1699 ($261 USD) for the 64GB version.
