Apple releases iOS 11.1 beta 2 update with new emoji

New week, new iOS beta release.

Apple has unleashed iOS 11.1 beta 2. The update is now available to registered iOS developers, who can grab it by going to Apple’s Developer Center or by going into Settings > General > Software Update on their registered iOS device.

One of the big features of this update is the new emoji that Apple teased last week. The company says that there are “hundreds” of new emoji characters included in this beta release, including a vampire, a pie, a face with a monocle, a “Shh” face, a wizard, and take-out food. These emoji are adapted from characters in Unicode 10.

Everyone will be able to use these emoji once iOS 11.1 rolls out to the public. There’s no telling when that might be, but with the iPhone X launching on November 3rd, Apple could choose to launch iOS 11.1 on that same date.

Also available today is watchOS 4.1 beta 2, which is also available to developers.
