Are you skipping the iPhone 8 for the iPhone X?

We're just a few days away from the launch of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. As such, reviews for both devices are finding their way online. A quick perusal shows a lot of the same things we've seen last year, and the year before. The iPhone 8 borrows a familiar design, which many would probably now consider aging, especially in light of the iPhone X's design, but it's also still an iPhone. Coupled with iOS 11, along with wireless charging, improved cameras, and other key upgrades, the device is probably still worth an upgrade if you're in the market for a new phone.

Many of the reviews I looked through all said the same thing at one point or another, in some manner: The iPhone 8 is a great phone, but you should probably wait for the iPhone X. This is a sentiment that many people probably expected to just be the base response for the iPhone 8, no matter how great it turned out to be.

The iPhone X exists. It's impossible to ignore.

Analysts are basically saying the same thing, too. Right now I can still find an iPhone 8 or an iPhone 8 Plus for delivery on Friday, September 22. And Apple retail sites apparently still have stock prepared for walk-ins or in-store pickup on the same date. That's basically unheard of for a new iPhone launch (save for the base model, with the least amount of built-in storage, in some cases), and people aren't hesitating to point fingers at the iPhone X. That particular phone goes up for pre-order a month from now, and won't be available until November. And thanks to its design, different technology like Face ID, and more, people are apparently waiting for that handset in droves.

Which isn't too surprising. The iPhone X was always going to "cannibalize" some of the iPhone 8's luster and pre-orders. But that doesn't make the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus bad phones by any means. If you don't want to wait for the iPhone X, or maybe you aren't ready to switch to Face ID from Touch ID, or maybe you actually like bezels (hey, it's possible), the iPhone 8/8 Plus are still worthy upgrades, especially if you're on an upgrade plan from Apple or your wireless carrier.

A friend of mine is going with the iPhone 8 Plus, but it's because he doesn't want to spend $1,000 or more on a phone. Which I definitely understand. Another friend of mine is going with the iPhone 8 Plus because he doesn't want to use Face ID yet. He's holding onto this design for one more year, letting Apple "work out the kinks."

What about you? Is the iPhone X making it impossible for you to upgrade to the iPhone 8/8 Plus? Are you waiting for Apple's flagship? Or did you already pre-order an iPhone 8, or plan on picking one up as soon as you can? Let me know which way you went.
