Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro leak hints at new and improved features

Looks like Samsung has a new Gear Fit activity tracker coming soon.

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro will be announced alongside the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23rd, claims a new report from VentureBeat. There’s no word yet on how much it’ll cost — last year’s Gear Fit 2 was $179 at launch — but today’s report does shed some light on the Gear Fit 2 Pro’s features.

Samsung’s new Gear Fit 2 Pro is expected to include 5 ATM water resistance and the ability to sync with the Speedo On app. These two features could combine to make the device a good companion for those that like to swim during their workouts.

Also rumored to be coming with the Gear Fit 2 Pro is support for offline Spotify playback, which means you should be able to download Spotify music to your device and listen to it even if you don’t have an active internet connection.

Finally, Samsung is reportedly giving the Gear Fit 2 Pro a watch-style clasp to help it better stay on your wrist.

The original Gear Fit 2 was a fitness-focused wearable with a rectangular Super AMOLED display, GPS, and support for iOS and Android devices. Now it appears that Samsung is prepping a new and improved model that takes the original model and makes a few small but meaningful improvements. If you liked last year’s Gear Fit 2, keep an eye out for this Gear Fit 2 Pro to debut later this month.
