Ever since reports of overheating Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones began popping up last year, we’ve all been wondering what the cause of the issues was. That question will soon be answered.
During its CES 2017 event today, Samsung confirmed that it would “soon” share the results of its investigation into the Galaxy Note 7’s overheating issues.
We’ll have to wait until whenever “soon” is to find out what caused Samsung’s Android flagship to overheat, but as we’ve been waiting, some people have attempted to pinpoint the issue on their own. One report suggested that Samsung didn’t give enough room for the Note 7’s battery to expand as it charges and discharges.
While its investigating the cause of the overheating Galaxy Note 7 phones, Samsung is also working to recall all of the remaining units that are in the wild. It recently confirmed a software update for the US versions of the Note 7 that will block the phones from charging, rendering them useless. T-Mobile is now pushing that update to its Note 7s, and AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon will follow this week.
