Google Daydream View VR headset official, launching in November

Following the announcement of its new Pixel and Pixel XL, Google today showed us its new Daydream View virtual reality headset.

Daydream View features a fabric body, and there’s cushioning on the inside of the headset to make it comfortable to wear. Google says that you can wear glasses with the Daydream View, too.

On the front of the Daydream View is a hinged panel. This is where you pop in your phone when you’re ready to use the headset, so long as you’ve got a Daydream-compatible phone like one of Google’s new Pixel phones. You can also store the Daydream View’s controller in the hinge when you’re not using the headset.

Speaking of that controller, device uses built-in sensors so that you can perform gestures in Daydream VR apps, like for drawing. The controller is pretty simple, having just a couple of buttons and a trackpad.

Google’s Daydream View headset will be available for pre-order on October 20 and it’ll launch in November. Pricing will be set at $79 in the US, $99 in Canada, £69 in the UK, €69 in Germany, and $119 in Australia. Each unit comes with the trackpad. It’ll be available in a gray Slate color at first, with Snow and Crimson color options coming later on.
