Nextbit announces Web Client Beta feature, may have also teased a red Robin

UPDATE: Nextbit posted a photo on Twitter showing a Midnight Robin with red paint along with the text "There are no mistakes. Only happy accidents.” - Our design process (sometimes)." Looks like another teaser for a red Robin.

Nextbit today announced a new beta feature for its users to try out, and in the process, it showed an unannounced Robin color option.

First up, the Web Client Beta is a new feature that lets Robin owners view and download their photos on their computer. When you log in to the client, you can view your photos and their metadata, download them, or share them with your friends and family. The feature is currently in beta, and Nextbit says that members of its beta testing community will soon get access to it.

Nextbit took to Periscope and Facebook Live to announce its new Web Client Beta today and take questions from users. During the live streams, you could see a few Robin phones sitting beneath a monitor. What was interesting about this pile of phones is that one of the Robins was red, a color that’s quite a bit different from the Mint and Midnight models that Nextbit currently sells.

So what might this red Robin be? Nextbit could be prepping a new color of its flagship smartphone for sale to the public. It’s not at all uncommon to see phone makers give a device a new coat of paint or two post-launch, and a red Robin would be a very different color option from the blue-ish Mint and Midnight versions that are currently available.

To see Nextbit’s announcement and get a peek at the red Robin yourself, you can re-watch the Periscope stream here.
