ASUS ZenFone 3 family includes Deluxe with 6GB of RAM and Ultra with 6.8-inch screen

ASUS regularly shows new mobile hardware at Computex, like the Transformer Pad Infinity and Fonepad Note FHD 6. This year ASUS once again brought mobile wares to Taipei, introducing three new Android smartphones.

The ZenFone 3 family is now official with three handsets to suit different consumers. The main ZenFone 3 features a spun-metal finish on its rear that ASUS has become known for, but both the back and the front of the phone are covered in 2.5D Gorilla Glass to give the two sides a smooth finish.

In terms of raw specs, the ZenFone 3 features a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 Super IPS+ display on its face and a 16-megapixel camera around back. That camera includes ASUS’s TriTech autofocus with laser, phase detection, and continuous autofocus features to focus on your subject in 0.03 seconds. Below the 16-megapixel rear camera lives a fingerprint reader, and the front of the ZenFone 3 is home to an 8-megapixel snapper.

Inside of the ZenFone 3’s glass-covered body you’ll find an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, up to 4GB of RAM, a microSD slot, and USB-Type C. The Android 6.0-powered ZenFone 3 will start at $249, which will get you a model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Next is the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, which steps things up a bit from the ZenFone 3. The Deluxe has a 5.7-inch 1920x1080 Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820 processor, and up to 6GB of RAM. The camera has been bumped up to a 23-megapixel shooter that uses Sony’s IMX318 sensor, an f/2.0 aperture lens, and the same TriTech autofocus system found on the ZenFone 3. Also like the ZenFone 3, the Deluxe has a fingerprint reader below its main camera.

The design of the ZenFone 3 Deluxe is a bit different, too, boasting a full-metal design without any antenna lines like on metal devices like the iPhone 6s. This full-metal smartphone will set buyers back $499 for a model with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Finally, ASUS has introduced the massive ZenFone 3 Ultra, whose 6.8-inch 1920x1080 display makes it teeter the line between smartphone and tablet. The ZenFone 3 Ultra shares the same full-metal unibody design and 23-megapixel camera as the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, but steps down to a Snapdragon 652 processor and up to 4GB of RAM. The ZenFone 3 Ultra also includes a fingerprint reader, but ASUS has moved it to the front of the device for easier access.

As you might expect, ASUS has equipped the ZenFone 3 Ultra with a beefy battery that measures in at 4600mAh. The ginormous ZenFone 3 Ultra will be priced at $479 for a model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

ASUS’s new ZenFone 3 devices look nice. The ZenFone 3’s 2.5D glass gives it an attractive design, while the lack of antenna lines on the full-metal Deluxe and Ultra models help give them a clean look. The ZenFone 3 family is competitively priced, too, with the regular ZenFone 3 aimed at the “affordable flagship” market and the Deluxe packing a high-end processor and a bunch of RAM for just under $500.
