Xiaomi doesn’t have a huge presence in the US, offering just a handful of accessories in its Mi Store. We’ll get a taste of Xiaomi this week, though, thanks to Google I/O.
Xiaomi Global VP (and former Googler) Hugo Barra has revealed that Xiaomi will have a presence of Google I/O, which is taking place from May 18 through May 20. Barra also gave a sneak peek at what Xiaomi has planned for the show, posting an image that reads “iO” with an “i” that looks like volume controls and a second teaser with video game controls. You can see the second teaser below.
We’ll have to wait until Google I/O gets underway before we find out exactly what Xiaomi has planned, but the volume control teaser hints at some sort of a media device. Those controls look like they’d belong on a remote control, so perhaps Xiaomi is prepping an Android TV box. Whatever Xiaomi has planned, here’s to hoping that the fact that they’ll be showing it at I/O means that they’re also planning on launching it in the US.
