YouTube messaging rolling out, aims to make it easier to share videos with your friends

Google regularly updates its YouTube apps with features that make your video-watching experience better, like an improved UI and better recommendations. The latest feature being added, though, is meant to make it easier for you to share clips.

YouTube is now rolling out a new native sharing feature. With it, you can share videos with your friends inside of the YouTube app and chat about the clips, too. They can share videos in the chat, too. These chats will be found in a new tab inside of the YouTube app, making it easy for users to jump from a chat to a video and back again.

Native Sharing is currently only available to a handful of YouTube users, but those people can help spread the feature to others by inviting their friends to chat.

There’s certainly no shortage of messaging apps already available, but YouTube hopes that the feature of not having to jump between apps to copy and share videos will make its messaging functionality more attractive. Plus, since it’ll be easier and faster to share videos while using YouTube’s messaging feature, they company probably hopes that users will share more videos than they would’ve previously since sharing will require less effort.
