T-Mobile LG G3 getting update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow

The same day that Google revealed that Android 6.0 made its way to more devices this month, T-Mobile has announced that its LG G3 is moving up to Marshmallow, too.

The T-Mobile version of the LG G3 is now receiving its Android 6.0 update over the air, according to a T-Mo support page. The update bumps the T-Mo G3 up to software version H63120b, and the update itself includes an upgrade to Marshmallow and goodies like Google Now on Tap and Doze mode battery optimizations. T-Mobile has thrown in some Wi-Fi Calling improvements, as well.

The update is now going out over the air, but because it’s 704MB, you may want to find yourself a speedy Wi-Fi connection before trying to download it. Once you’ve got some Wi-Fi, grab your G3 and head into Settings > General tab > About phone > Update Centers > System updates > Check now.

We’ve seen other US carrier-branded LG G3 models get Android 6.0 in recent months, so it’s not a surprise to see the T-Mobile-flavored G3 get it, too. Still, it’s always good to see an older phone getting a major software update, and I’m sure that T-Mobile G3 owners are excited to be on the same software as their G4, G5, and V10-owning counterparts.

If you’ve got a T-Mobile-branded LG G3, let us know when Android 6.0 makes its way to you!
