Saygus V2 expected to finally ship in Q1 2016

Remember the Saygus V2? This Android phone made waves at CES 2015 thanks to its dual microSD slots that, when combined with the internal storage, allow the V2 to offer 464GB of internal storage. However, the V2 has run into production issues, and it still hasn’t launched one year after its debut. Saygus now says that the phone is finally near release.

Saygus expects to release the V2 in Q1 2016. The company explains that in the latter half of 2015, it worked to gain more control of the V2 production process rather than relying on partners, and it now says that it controls “most of the process.”

Saygus also provided a bit of an update on the improved features that’ll be included on the shipping V2 now that we’re a year out from the device’s original debut. When it finally does ship, the V2 will include Android 6.0 Marshmallow, dual SIM slots, and USB Type-C, and Saygus says that it’s “washable,” too. Also included will be a newer fingerprint reader.

Finally, Saygus dropped details on the freebies that’ll be included with orders. V2 buyers will get SqGl earbuds, an extra protective cover for their phone, a spare battery, and a 50 percent discount on the next version of Saygus’s phone.

Pre-orders for the Saygus V2 originally opened way back in February 2015, and Saygus also conducted an Indiegogo fundraising campaign in July. Needless to say, folks that backed the V2 early have been waiting quite a while for their phones. Saygus says that issues with partners and parts have caused the V2’s delays, but the company seems confident that the V2 is finally ready to go. For the sake of everyone that’s already backed the V2, hopefully Saygus is right.
