Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge schematics leak hint at sizes of upcoming flagships

One day after a rumor that claimed that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will have larger screens than their predecessors, a new leak claims to shed some light on the sizes of the phones themselves.

Shai Mizrachi, an Israeli TV presenter and journalist, has leaked what are allegedly the schematics for both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Mizrachi, who leaked the Galaxy S6 edge+ last year, claims that the Galaxy S7 will be 70.5mm wide and 143mm tall, just like the Galaxy S6. Since the Galaxy S7 is rumored to have a 5.2-inch screen that’s larger than the S6’s 5.1-inch display, that suggests that the S7 will have smaller bezels than its predecessor.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S7 edge will reportedly measure 73mm wide and 151 mm tall. To compare, the Galaxy S6 edge is 70mm wide and 142mm tall. Considering that the Galaxy S7 edge is said to have a 5.5-inch display while the S6 edge’s screen is 5.1 inches, it’s would make sense for the S7 edge to be larger.

Finally, while front of the Galaxy S7 appears to be the same as the Galaxy S6 from the front, the back of the phone is different. The back of the Galaxy S7 appears to be curved on its two sides, similar to the Galaxy Note 5, which should help to make the GS7 easier to hold.

While the design of Samsung’s new Galaxy S7 and S7 edge may not differ much from 2015’s models, they may still have some meaningful changes that affect how you use them. They’ll likely have updated features, too, like new Snapdragon 820 processors, reversible USB Type-C connectors, and perhaps pressure-sensitive displays. Add all of that together and it looks like Samsung’s new flagships could be solid improvements over the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.
