Facebook pushing enhanced notification tab to Android and iOS apps

Less than one week after beefing up its search functionality, Facebook is rolling an enhanced notifications out to mobile users.

Facebook’s refreshed notifications tab is meant to be personalized, showing you birthdays and life events from your friends, sports scores and TV reminders based on the pages that you’ve liked, and upcoming events that you’ve joined. If you enable Location History in the Facebook app, you’ll also see things happening in your community, weather information, movies playing near you, and a list of places to eat that includes links to Facebook pages and reviews.

This enhanced notifications feed will “gradually” hit Android and iOS users.

Facebook’s updated notifications feed seems a bit reminiscent of Google Now, taking friends’ birthdays and info on topics that you’ve shown interest in and then showing you updates, all in a single feed. Because many regular consumers probably spend a lot of time in their Facebook app, popping in to check it several times throughout the day, those people could end up seeing Facebook’s notification feed more often than Google Now.

What do you think of this updated Facebook notification feed? Could you see yourself using it regularly?
