ZTE Axon Pro gains 64GB model as ZTE Axon mid-ranger launches

After officially announcing the Axon Pro earlier this year, ZTE has been going all-in on its new Axon brand as of late. Recently ZTE added the Axon mini and Axon Watch, and now ZTE’s Axon family is gaining two more additions.

First up, ZTE added a 64GB option to its Axon Pro lineup. The Axon Pro originally launched with just 32GB of storage and no microSD slot, so the addition of a 64GB option is welcome. The 64GB Axon Pro commands a $50 premium over its 32GB sibling, meaning that you’ll pay $449.98 for the device.

The other device unveiled by ZTE today is the Axon. Not Axon Pro, not Axon mini, just Axon. The Axon is a more affordable version of the Axon Pro, offering a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display, down from the Axon Pro’s 5.5-inch 2560x1440 display. The Axon also has less RAM than its Axon Pro sibling — 2GB, down from 4GB — and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor rather than an octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset.

Rounding out the Axon’s spec list is a 13-megapixel main rear camera and a secondary 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, a 3000mAh battery, 32GB of storage, and Android 5.1.1. LTE connectivity includes support for bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 17, 29, and 30.

The ZTE Axon is now available for $329.98 in Phthalo Blue, Ion Gold, and Chromium Silver color options. The regular Axon retains the design of the Axon Pro but offers a more mid-range spec list and a price to match. It’s good to see ZTE offering a more affordable version of its flagship Axon Pro, but at a price difference of $70, it seems like you might be better off saving a bit more cash and going with the Axon Pro, which has beefier specs that’ll help the phone be a good performer for a longer period of time. If you’re laser focused on getting as affordable a device as possible, though, the regular ZTE Axon is now here for you to consider.
