Remember how Google said that the Android M Developer Preview would receive updates during its journey to a public release? Well today the first update has arrived.
Google is releasing Android M Developer Preview 2, which includes up-to-date platform code and near-final APIs to help developers test their apps with Android M. There are also a couple of fixes for bugs found in the previous release, like a Camera Permission problem that plagued legacy apps.
If you've already got the first Android M Developer Preview running on a phone or tablet, updating to Developer Preview 2 is easy. You'll simply install the update over the air, just like you would any other Android OS update. Google says that it expects all devices to be updated in the next few days. If you don't yet have Android M, you can grab the new Developer Preview 2 and install it today.
Because this is beta software, it's no surprise that Google is constantly improving Android M before its final release to the public this fall. What's nice is that Google is also providing these updates to testers that are running the Android M Developer Preview. This means that developers get to check their apps against updated code to help ensure that they'll work with Android M when it's released to the public, and it means that us regular folk that are running the preview get new and hopefully smoother software to play with.
