Google Messenger for Android updated with stickers and location sharing

If you’re an Android user that likes Google’s Messenger app for your communication needs, then you’ll be happy to know that that app is getting a notable update today.

Messenger is now receiving an update that includes stickers that can enhance your communications. Like many other messaging apps, you can now send various stickers in Messenger, and they all look pretty silly (in a good way). The default set of stickers is called Foodies and shows ice cream, an apple, a hamburger, broccoli, and more with varying emotions. There are additional sticker packs called The Lovable Zoo (with animals) and Best Friends Forever (with a man and his dog) that you can download for free.

The other major new feature in Messenger is location sharing. Sending your location will give the recipient a small image of your location on a map as well as a link that’ll open up in Google Maps.

Both of these new features can be access by hitting the Attach button next to the Compose area of Messenger. It’s also worth mentioning that the stickers and map image are sent as MMS messages, so they should work nicely for your friends with non-Android OSes. Both features are nice additions to Messenger, and when combined with the other update love that Google has shown the app recently, they make Messenger a solid option for your texting needs. If you want to grab the update right now, you can snag it from APK Mirror.
