After launching the Project Tango tablet in 2014 using an invite-only system, Google today started selling its depth-sensing slate to anyone that wants one, and with a heck of a price cut to boot.
The Project Tango tablet is now available for purchase in the Google Store, sans invitation requirement. Both the black and white versions are available for $512 each, which may sound pricey, but that’s actually half off the tablet’s original asking price.

While the Project Tango is certainly highly-specced, it’s likely still a little pricey for us regular consumers. That’s because the device is meant for development purposes. Google wants Project Tango to help track motion and build 3D environments, not to be your day-to-day tablet for browsing the web. And now that Project Tango is available to everyone at a significantly cheaper price, more developers will be able to easily buy a unit and contribute to Google’s efforts
