After giving prepaid Allset users 4G LTE access in mid-2014, Verizon is kicking off the new year with some more good news for its prepaid folk.
Verizon has bumped the data allotment for its base $45 Allset prepaid smartphone plan from 500MB to 1GB. The big red carrier also notes that if you enroll in auto-pay, you’ll get an additional 500MB tacked on to your monthly allotment for no charge. The Allset plan includes unlimited talk and text as well as mobile hotspot.
It’s also worth noting that Verizon’s prepaid Allset users can also add more data each month with the Bridge Data add-ons. Those are available at 500MB for $5, 1GB for $10, or 3GB for $30.
Prepaid plans are getting pretty nice in the U.S. T-Mobile’s got a multitude of options, including a $30 plan with 100 minutes and unlimited data with 5GB of high-speed data, AT&T recently swapped its hard-capped prepaid smartphone plans for ones with unlimited (but throttled) data, and now Verizon’s tempting prepaid folk with increased data along with the auto-pay credit that it already had. If you don’t mind paying full price for a new phone or can snag a used one off of Craigslist or eBay, prepaid could be worth a look.
