I'm excited to see HTC's flagship for 2015

Several years ago, right around the time that HTC and Samsung were invested in a multi-device launch every single year back-and-forth, there was pretty much constant talk about who the “king of Android” was. Of course, opinions ranged, and many people ignored both HTC and Samsung to pinpoint other companies that more rightfully deserved the title in their eyes. That conversation has sort of died out as of late, but that’s arguably because Samsung figured out how to really take the lead.

And they’ve held it for quite some time, too.

Now that we’re in 2015, several years into Samsung’s reign if you will, I think it’s about time that a coup happens. And that company that should jump to the forefront is HTC. This is a company that, way back in the day, got me into the Android game in the first place. The original T-Mobile G1, you remember that thing? It is certainly a device worth remembering. But beyond that, HTC really made me fall in love with their Android wares with the original Hero. I loved that phone.

I’ve owned a lot of different HTC-branded Android phones, but the original Hero is, as far as I’m concerned, the real hero device out of all of them. Yeah, I loved the DROID Incredible, because it was a pretty great handset, but the Hero was something special back in the day. And I want HTC to create a device that brings those emotions back to the table for me.

I’m not sure if that handset is on the horizon, but I’ve certainly got my fingers crossed and my hopes up. With rumors that a device codenamed Hima is on the way, and with plenty of noteworthy specs to catch the eye, I’m just hoping that I fall in love with the design like I did with the original Hero. The One (M7) was pretty fantastic, and while I wasn’t the biggest fan of the One (M8) in this category, I think HTC is constantly on a progressive track, and they’ve learned what to change, what not to, and they’ll come up with a device this year that grabs the attention and refuses to let go.

I’m ready for HTC to surprise me in 2015, and I’m hoping their flagship device they are preparing to announce in March does the trick. Do you have your eyes on the Hima?
