Excited for the HTC RE camera? If so, I’ve got some bad news and some good news.
First up, the bad news. HTC is reaching out to consumers that’ve pre-ordered the orange RE camera to tell them that the device is delayed due to overwhelming supply. HTC is giving those folks a few different options for what to do in response to the delay, which is where the good news comes in.
HTC says that pre-order customers that bought an orange RE can switch to a white model and receive a 10 percent discount. That white model is expected to ship “around November 15.” HTC has only officially said that the RE camera will launch “in time for the holidays,” so this is the first time that we’ve got a concrete launch date for the action camera.
Customers that don’t want to switch to the white RE can either stick with their orange model, wait for it and receive a 10 percent discount in the process or buy both the orange and white models and get 10 percent discounts on them both.
So long as HTC can stick to its estimated November 15 launch for the white RE camera, it looks like we’ve only got to wait a couple more weeks before we can take the periscope-cam for a spin.
