Are you picking up a Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy Note Edge?

Samsung has fully accepted its role in the mobile industry as the manufacturer that will always, and probably forever be, known as the company that will try just about anything at least once. And, if not once, then at least a couple of times in a span of a certain amount of years. It may not be as bad as “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks,” but I can understand why people might want to use that as a way to describe the company’s efforts.

It is indeed true that Samsung isn’t afraid to jump into a market and give it a real gentleman’s effort. Just look at the fact that a company that makes refrigerators, smartphones, laptops and tablets is now also offering up its own virtual reality headset. How crazy is that, right? If there was ever an indication that they’ll do whatever they want, that’s it right there.

The virtual reality headset isn’t really the craziest thing the company announced, though. For me, it’s the Galaxy Note Edge that should really take the headlines in that specific category. Not so much because it’s an exciting device in and of itself, even if I do think it’s pretty interesting as a whole, I can’t help but wonder if this is another Continuum. Basically, a device so far ahead of itself in any capacity that it could possibly be considered for, that consumers just flat-out don’t respond to it at all.

Or, this is another Galaxy Note.

Sometimes Samsung has a hit on their hands when they change the way we look at the mobile market. The Galaxy Note is the prime example of this. For as many little misses that Samsung may collect over the years, they have massive successes at the same time. The Galaxy Note phablet lineup changed everything about smartphone displays. It started the bump in bigger, and now we’re just riding the waves that original device created when it splash landed all those years ago.

The Galaxy Note Edge could very well be another Galaxy Note hit. This curved display could really take off if it does well with marketing, and with consumers once it lands in stores later this year. Anything is possible, and there’s no denying that all of the good things about the Galaxy Note 4 are in the Galaxy Note Edge — plus, a little curved edge to make it really stand out.

But will it be enough? If Samsung prices the Galaxy Note Edge well enough, right in line with the Galaxy Note 4 in fact, then it certainly has a chance. But, here’s the ultimate question: are you going to pick the Galaxy Note Edge over the Galaxy Note 4? Let me know!
