When LG took the wraps off of the G3 earlier this year, it also introduced us to the new version of its custom Android user experience that includes features like Smart Keyboard and Touch & Shoot. Apparently LG is pretty pleased with how its refreshed UX turned out, because it announced today that it plans to expand it to other LG devices.
LG says that it’s started work on standardizing its custom UX features across “most” of its mid-range and low-end smartphones and tablets that will debut in the second half of 2014. The Life’s Good crew says that its goal is to offer a “premium and unique” experience across all of its low-end and mid-range products.
Some of the features that’ll be included in the Touch & Shoot, which lets users focus and capture a photo with a single tap; Gesture Shot, which begins a three-second selfie countdown when users open and close their hand; Clean View, which offers an uncluttered camera preview by removing all of the menu icons from the screen; and Smart Keyboard, which analyzes typing habits to improve accuracy and can also be resized to better fit users’ hands.
In the past, we’ve seen manufacturers offer different features between its different tiers of hardware, which could be confusing and disappointing for folks that opt for lower-end hardware and don’t get the same features as those users with higher-end products. That’s changed recently, and it’s good that LG is working to offer a more standardized user experience across all of its devices.
