Another company has officially been consumed by the Google.
Today Emu announced that it’s been acquired by Google and that, as a result, it will shut down its messaging app on August 25. At that time, the app will no longer be available for download and existing users won’t be able to send, receive or download messages.
Emu is a messaging app that could learn from your conversations to do things like make appointments on your calendar, set reminders and share your location. The app was made by several folks with roots in other well-known tech companies, including Apple and Google.
It remains to be seen exactly what Google plans to do with the Emu team and its tech. Considering how Google has been pushing Hangouts for messaging both on the web and mobile, though, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that app benefit from this acquisition.
