Motorola 'Moto Maxx' trademark discovered, hints a new device with beefy battery

With the exception of the Moto 360, Motorola has been keeping its upcoming products pretty well under wraps. However, the company recently filed for a trademark that may have tipped an upcoming piece of kit.

A filing for the trademark to the term “Moto Maxx” has been discovered on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s website. The filing was made by Motorola on July 22 and is meant to be used for “Mobile phones, smartphones and accessories therefor, namely, battery chargers and adapters.”

Motorola has released a few Android-powered smartphones with Maxx in their names in the past, all of which featured extremely beefy batteries. Considering the company’s recent Moto X, Moto G and Moto E releases, this new trademark hints that Motorola could be prepping a new non-Droid Maxx smartphone. If that’s the case, it seems likely that it, too, would have a large battery as one of its notable features.
