Are you rocking the iOS 8 beta on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch? If so, you’ll want to hit up your device’s Software Update feature or mosey on in to Apple’s Developer Center, because an iOS 8 beta update is now available.
Apple today released iOS 8 beta 3 to registered developers. The update is build 12A4318c and, as with past iOS 8 betas, it’s compatible with the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina Display.
It’s been a few weeks since Apple pushed the iOS 8 beta 2 update out, so I’m sure that anyone running the iOS 8 beta is happy to finally see some new software. Here’s to hoping that this update brings with it some fixes for issues that users have been seeing with previous betas.
To download the iOS 8 beta 3 update, you can either hit up Apple’s developer site or grab your device and select Settings > General > Software Update. And if you’re not running the beta, well, check out the video below for a refresher on what kinds of goodies are included in iOS 8!
UPDATE: Now that registered developers have had a little time to install iOS 8 beta 3 and begin digging into the update, some details of what’s included have been revealed.
According to 9to5Mac, some of the goodies that Apple packed inside iOS 8 beta 3 include:
- Toggle for Handoff feature, which allows users to start a Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar and Contacts document on your iOS device and continue it on your Mac
- Use App Analytics to share crash data with app developers
- Ability to begin using iCloud Drive for storing documents in the cloud
- New wallpapers
- Weather UI tweaks
- Toggle to enable or disable QuickType
- Setting to automatically keep photos and videos from Messages
- Stay tuned and I’ll update you if any other major new tweaks are found!
UPDATE 2: Another big feature has been discovered within iOS 8. This time it’s Wi-Fi Calling support for T-Mobile customers. According to 9to5Mac’s sources, calls made over a Wi-Fi connection sound “far better” than cellular calls. It’s worth noting that to enable the feature, users must enter their physical address in case of an emergency.
