How much do you spend on apps a month?

I love apps, but not nearly as much as some people. While it's true that the very first thing I do when I get a new phone is download all the apps I normally use, I don't download new ones all that often. Which is surprising, because I tend to meander through the digital app stores on each platform pretty regularly. And when a story about a popular app makes the rounds, I always check it out in the store.

But I rarely actually download new ones.

I've got a few friends that will tell me almost daily about a new app they have, or that I "need to check out," because "it's the best." And sometimes I will check it out. I'll look over the description, read what it does and try to figure out if it'll actually help me out or is better than an application I'm already using, and go from there. I've got favorites when it comes to the apps I use every single day, and apparently it's hard for a newcomer to usurp that app's spot on my devices.

It's not even about the price, I've found. Paying for an app has never bothered me, simply because I know how much work a developer puts into what they release. Apparently I just stick to what I know, and call it a day for just about everything else.

But apps are pretty amazing, and sometimes you can get caught by their lure. Back when applications were actually new, I definitely lost myself into buying quite a few, as often as I could. I spent quite a bit back then, just getting all the apps I could to try them out and find out how they worked. (And don't get me started on the games.) And when you get a new phone, sometimes you just want to compliment it with a few new apps, too. There's nothing wrong with that!

There's very rarely a time where you can't find a new application to fill some space that you think you need to fill. If you don't like something about a phone's out-of-the-box feature set, including the calendar, or calculator, or something else, there's oftentimes an application you can download to use instead. There are a *ton* of calculators in the iOS App Store, for instance. Calendar and email replacements are pretty common these days, too.

So I was curious: how often do you find yourself buying new apps, and do you ever go on spending sprees? How much do you spend on apps a month, do you think? Or are you like me, and find yourself sticking with what you already have more often than not?
