Android Wear apps given dedicated corner of the Google Play Store

It’s my goal here at PhoneDog to help you get ready for the arrival of your new Android Wear device. Yesterday I pointed you in the direction of Google’s official Android Wear companion app, and now I’ve got a page for you to bookmark that contains a ton of apps for you to try out on your new smartwatch.

Google has set aside a section of the Play Store that’s dedicated to apps with Android Wear functionality. Included in the list is Duolingo for learning a new language, Fly Delta for viewing your eBoarding Pass on your wristwatch and Player FM, which allows you to browse and launch podcasts from your wrist. The full list of apps included in the Android Wear list is as follows:

  • Android Wear
  • IFTTT
  • Level Money
  • Contacts +
  • Bandsintown Concerts
  • Banjo
  • Duolingo: Learn Languages Free
  • Eat24 Food Delivery & Takeout
  • Onefootball Brasil - World Cup
  • Highlight - People nearby
  • Glympse - Share your location
  • Talkray - Free Calls and Text
  • Player FM - Podcast and Sync
  • The Guardian
  • Thomson Reuters Eikon
  • Personal Capital Finance
  • Allthecooks Recipes
  • Pinterest
  • American Airlines
  • Fly Delta
  • 1Weather: Widget Forecast Radar
  • Zumper - Apartments for Rent
  • Maps
  • Hangouts

That’s a pretty lengthy list of apps that include Android Wear support, which is exciting news for anyone that’s got an LG G Watch or Samsung Gear Live on the way. After all, what fun would an Android Wear device be without having a bunch of apps to take advantage of the little computer on your wrist. Here’s to hoping that we continue to see this list grow as developers have more time to tinker with Android Wear and bake support for unique features into their apps.
