Samsung has been known to occasionally share with us the sales figures for its various products, including the Galaxy S 4 and the Galaxy Note line. Today the company updated us on its sales once again, revealing just how well the Galaxy S5 has been doing since its launch in early April.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Samsung co-CEO J.K. Shin revealed that sales of the Galaxy S5 have surpassed 11 million since its launch one month ago. To compare, the Galaxy S 4 moved 10 million units during its first month. Shin went on to say that the S5 has been doing especially strong in the U.S., Australia and Germany.
Samsung frequently uses terms “sold” and “shipped” interchangeably when talking about its devices, so it’s not clear if the company has sold 11 million Galaxy S5s to customers or if its shipped 11 million units to retailers. Both figures are impressive, though, and they show that Samsung is still one of the top Android device makers around.
Samsung executives went on to tease that the company intends to launch variants of its flagship Galaxy S5 in the coming months in order to keep sales strong. No other details were provided, but one exec did say that Samsung may use a bendable display in its next Galaxy Note smartphone, though he added that nothing has been finalized.
Finally, Samsung says that it plans to launch a new lineup of tablets at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 12. Once again, no other information was given, but it’s possible that they could be the Galaxy Tab S devices that’ve been leaked lately. Expected to come in 10.5 and 8.4-inch screen sizes, the two Tab S models are rumored to include high-res 2560x1600 AMOLED displays.
