Moto E photo reportedly leaks days before Motorola event

Motorola is set to introduce its next smartphone on May 13, and while we don’t know exactly what the company has planned, it has teased that the device will be “made to last” and “priced for all.” The good news for the more impatient among us is that, thanks to a newly-leaked image, we may not have to wait until May 13 to get a peek at what Moto’s got up its sleeve.

According to Android Police, someone recently posted the image you see above to Motorola Mexico’s official Facebook page. The post was deleted shortly thereafter, but because this is the Internet, the photo was saved before it disappeared forever.

So what does this image show? Well, it’s possible that the device on the right is the Moto E, the oft-rumored Android smartphone that’s expected to come in at a price that’s even lower than the Moto G. Compared to the Moto G that’s sitting to the left of it, this leaked device appears to lack a front-facing camera, is slightly smaller than the Moto G and is running Android 4.4 KitKat. There’s some branding at the top of the unit, but that just indicates that this is a prototype unit.

Spec details on the Moto E are still fairly light, but the rumor mill has suggested that it could cost $100 or less without a contract. At that price, I wouldn’t expect any bleeding edge features. Considering what Motorola was able to cram into the Moto G for just $179, though, it’ll definitely be interesting to see what it can do with this Moto E.
