AT&T 4G LTE making its way into several new markets, expanding in others [UPDATED]

Heads up, AT&T customers, because not only is today Hump Day, it’s also Fresh 4G LTE Coverage Day!

AT&T announced this morning that it has activated its 4G LTE network in several new markets across the country and expanded its existing coverage in other places. The list of locales that’ve been lit up so far include:

New markets

  • Richmond-New Castle, Ind.
  • Adrian, Mich.
  • Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
  • Glens Falls, N.Y. (includes South Glens Falls, West Glens Falls, Hudson Falls, Lake George Village, Queensbury, Kingsbury, Fort Ann, near Glen Lake and along the I-87 Northway between Moreau and Warrensburg)
  • St. Mary’s, Pa. (includes Johnsonburg, Ridgway, and Wilcox in Elk County as well as Emporium in Cameron County)
  • Danville, Va.

Expanded markets

  • Tell City, Ind. (includes surrounding areas)
  • Charlevoix and Emmet counties, Mich.

AT&T has said that it plans to be substantially complete with its 4G LTE rollout by summer 2014. The big blue carrier has been making steady progress toward that goal for a while, and now it looks like AT&T is busy hitting smaller cities with its LTE service.

Looking ahead, Ol’ Blue recently revealed that its LTE-Advanced coverage is currently live in several markets across the U.S., including Chicago. The devices that can actually access that network is fairly small right now, though, with the Unite mobile hotspot and Galaxy S5 available now and the upcoming Padfone X also expected to support the service.

UPDATE: AT&T says that it has also expanded its existing 4G LTE coverage in Paducah, Ky.
