At the tail end of February, Google announced that it was improving its mobile search by displaying restaurant menus when a user searched for them. Now Google is improving is search for foodies even further by making it easier to find nearby hotels and restaurants.
Google revealed today that users can find local hotels and restaurants on their Android device by saying a phrase such as “Show me some restaurants in downtown Austin.” Those results can then be filtered by price, rating, cuisine time and whether or not a certain place is open. Users can even have Google call one of the resulting hotels or restaurants by saying “OK Google, call…” and then saying the name of the business.
Search is Google’s bread and butter, so it’s no surprise to see the company continually beefing its product up with new and improved features. This new hotel and restaurant search seems super handy, especially for folks that are traveling and need to find a nearby place to crash or eat. The only downside? Right now this feature is only available in the U.S., but Google does urge us to “stay tuned!,” so it’s possible that it’ll be expanded to more locales in the future.
