Moto G launching on Republic Wireless in April for $149

Following its launch of the Moto X back in November, Republic Wireless today announced that it will soon offer Motorola's Moto G as well.

The Moto G will officially make its way to Republic Wireless in April with Android 4.4.2 KitKat in tow. Republic will offer both the 8GB and 16GB versions of the Moto G, with the former coming in at $149 and the latter earning a price tag of $179. Whichever model consumers choose, they'll have a few different plan options to pair it with:

  • Unlimited talk, text and data on Wi-Fi for $5 per month
  • Unlimited talk and text on WiFi and cellular, unlimited data on Wi-Fi for $10 per month
  • Unlimited talk, text and data and Wi-Fi and talk, text and cellular talk, text and data for $25

Republic Wireless's Moto G features specs similar to the other CDMA models that've hit U.S. shelves. That means that it's packing a 4.5-inch 720p LCD screen, 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 2070mAh battery. That's not quite as high-end as the Moto X that Republic offers, but the Moto G will also cost $150 less than its big sibling. Considering that Republic likes to highlight its affordable rate plans, the Moto G and its easy-on-your-wallet price seem like a good fit for this operator.
