Well that didn't take long. Just hours after we learned that the T-Mobile HTC One's Android 4.4 update had received technical approval, it looks like the software has officially started to roll out.
Several PhoneDog commenters, as well as members of the T-Mobile and xda-developers forums, report that they've successfully downloaded the T-Mobile One's KitKat update. As expected, the update bumps the Magenta version of the HTC One up to Android 4.4.2 and version 5.5 of HTC's custom Sense user interface. Neither HTC nor T-Mobile have posted any official documentation for the update yet, so we'll have to wait for the full changelog.
With this update, another variant of the HTC One has been brought up to the newest version of Android. HTC has been focusing pretty heavily on Android updates lately, committing to support its One devices with major updates for two years and also being transparent about the status of its various updates. While the U.S. carrier-branded One updates to Android 4.4.2 are going out a bit later than HTC originally planned, the One has still managed to beat most other Android devices in the race to 4.4.2, which is pretty exciting for both HTC and One users.
