U.S. Cellular intros promotional $50 unlimited plan, discounts several Android phones

Heads up, U.S. Cellular customers, because your operator's got a shiny new rate plan that you may be interested in. U.S. Cellular pinged us today to share the news of its new $50 promo plan that includes unlimited talk, text and data. The plan includes 500MB of high-speed data, and after a customer crosses that threshold, his or her speeds will be throttled for the remainder of that billing cycle. The no contract plan is available in stores and online starting today and will be offered for a "limited time."

While 500MB of high-speed data may not sound like much, the main draw of U.S. Cellular's new promo plan is that is bucket of data is bottomless. To compare, USCC also offers $50 and $65 no contract options with unlimited talk and text, but the data buckets are capped at 1GB and 2GB, respectively. The $50 promo plan's unlimited bucket of data means that customers can continue to surf the 'net while on the go, even after they cross that 500MB high-speed threshold.

In other U.S. Cellular no contract news, the carrier has revealed that it's offering select deals on several contract-free Android phones. The ZTE Director is available for $49.99 — though the U.S. Cellular website shows me a web-only price of $19.99 — the Kyocera Hydro XTRM and Samsung Galaxy Axiom are $129.99 and the Moto X is $299.99.
