Today's turning out to be a big day for Nokia fans. Not only did the Finnish firm reveal its Q4 2013 earnings, including sales of 8.2 million Lumia phones, but we also caught another glimpse of the Lumia Icon shortly after. Now we've got another piece of Finnish goodness for Nokia fans to sink their teeth into.
Nokia has begun sending invitations to its Mobile World Congress press conference, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, Feb. 24, at 8:30 a.m. local time (2:30 a.m. ET). Unsurprisingly, Nokia doesn't say exactly what it's planning to show at the event.
Mobile World Congress is the biggest wireless show of the year, with manufacturers from all around the globe converging on Barcelona to show off their upcoming wares. It's no surprise that Nokia is planning to have some presence at the event, but it's a bit of a mystery as to what the company will show. The aforementioned Lumia Icon is one upcoming Nokia phone, but MWC is usually more of an international show, so it'd be kind of a surprise to see that Verizon-specific handset show its face in Spain. Nokia showed the Lumia 520 and 720 at MWC 2013, but the company recently took the wraps off of its new Lumia 525, so that axes another possibility.
The other big device roaming around Nokia's rumored hardware stable is the Android-powered Normandy, a handset that's leaked out several times recently as Nokia's new low-cost smartphone offering. The Verge has been told by its sources that Nokia had actually intended to debut the Normandy at MWC, but with Microsoft's impending acquisition of Nokia's hardware division, it's now unclear if the Normandy will ever see the light of day.
