Moto X ebony, teak and walnut backs coming Jan. 21, pricing for wood covers cut to $25 [UPDATED]

Following last month's debut of the bamboo back cover option for the Moto X, Motorola today announced three other wood panels that can be applied to the rear of its flagship device.

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 21, customers using MotoMaker to create a custom Moto X will be able to select walnut, teak or ebony (shown above) rear panels in addition to the bamboo cover that's already available. Additionally, Motorola revealed today that it's slashing the price of the wooden backs from $100 to just $25. The Moto X itself starts at $399 for a no-contract model and is also available with a two-year commitment from the four major U.S. carriers.

These additional Moto X wood covers have certainly been a long time coming, but they're finally almost here, and boy do they look nice. Motorola's decision to cut the price on the wooden backs makes them even more tempting, and I'm betting that there will be quite a few more MotoMaker users springing for a bamboo, ebony, teak or walnut shell now that they're a quarter of the original price.

Now that there are four wooden Moto X backs to choose from, which do you think looks best?

UPDATE: The Moto X isn't the only device getting itself some new back covers. Motorola recently added Grip Shells for the Moto G to its online store, giving customers a third case option in addition to the Flip Shell and plain ol' Shell. The Grip Shell provides a bit of protection to the Moto G's back and sides while also adding a grippier surface to hold onto the phone with. Motorola's Grip Shells are available in Chalk, Black, Royal Blue, Lemon Lime and Cherry and are priced at $19.99 each. Images of each Grip Shell can be found in the gallery below.
