Amazon offering $5 Appstore credit to users that download an app or game from its market

Is there a specific Android app or two that you've had your eye on lately? If so, you may want to mosey on over to the Amazon Appstore to see if the online retailer's got it stocked on its virtual shelves. That's because starting today, Amazon will give a $5 credit for its Appstore to any Android user that downloads an app or game from the newest version of its app marketplace. The offer will run through Dec. 28.

In addition to that free $5 credit, Amazon is offering discounts of up to 65 percent on games from EA, Sega and Gameloft, as well as a one-day $0.99 cent sale on Office Suite Pro 7 on Dec. 26. There will also be two free app bundles available on Dec. 25 and Dec. 26 in addition to Amazon's usual Free App of the Day deals. The free apps that'll be on offer include:

  • December 23 – Draw a Stickman: EPIC
  • December 24 – Piano Master Christmas Special
  • December 25 – Angry Birds Star Wars II
  • December 26 – Where’s my Perry?
  • December 27 – Quell Memento
  • December 28 – Doodle Farm

The free $5 Amazon Appstore credit is a pretty great deal for Android users, and the good news is that because it runs through Dec. 28, anyone that receives a shiny new Android device for the holidays can take part in the promo too. If you've already got an Android phone or tablet and want to treat yourself to a free app right now, you can find a download link for the Amazon Appstore right here. Just be sure to come back and let us know which apps you end up spending your $5 credit on!
