Last March, it was discovered that LG and Google had given the Nexus 4 a small redesign, adding small nubs to its rear and introducing a smaller camera housing that exposed less of the shooter's lens. Now it looks like the two companies have given the Nexus 5 a similar treatment, as images appear to show that recently-shipped models of the new Nexus are slightly different than launch units.
An xda-developers user has posted photos comparing an older Nexus 5 unit with a newer model, and there are a couple of noticeable differences between the two devices. The biggest alteration can be found at the bottom of the phone: The speaker grille holes on the newer model are ever so slightly larger than those on the older unit. It's also said that LG has tweaked the power and volume buttons, making them slightly stiffer in an effort to reduce rattling.
Neither LG nor Google have made any official statements regarding Nexus 5 design tweaks, but it does look like LG has made some small alterations to the newer versions of the device. The larger speaker grille holes could help the Nexus 5 produce slightly louder sound, and the newer buttons may feel slightly more stiff than "older" models, but overall these seem to be rather small changes. The opinion of whether or not these tweaks are enough to warrant an exchange will vary from person to person, but hey, at least it appears that LG and Google have been listening to consumer feedback.
