Moto G shipments facing weather-related delay, Motorola upgrading orders to overnight delivery

Usually when weather is the topic of conversation in the world of mobile, we're talking about the best app to load onto your smartphone. Things are a little different today, though, as the weather is now standing between many consumers and their newly-purchased Motorola handsets.

Motorola tonight notified recent Moto G buyers that its fulfillment center in Fort Worth, Texas, was hit by winter storm Dion and that, as a result, some orders will miss their estimated ship dates. Moto expects many orders to go out by Dec. 17, with some folks getting earlier estimates of Dec. 14. Motorola also says that it'll be upgrading the devices to free overnight shipping to make up for the delay.

It's kind of a bummer to learn that the weather is delaying shipments of the Moto G, especially since the device is making its big debut in the U.S. It's also important for Motorola and its employees to be safe and recover from the nastiness spread by winter storm Dion, though, and an upgrade to overnight shipping means that Moto G buyers will be getting their new phone just about as quickly as possible once things clear up in Texas.

If you're waiting on the delivery of a shiny new Moto G, or if you'd just like to see just what it is that buyers are waiting for, you can check out Aaron's video review of the G down below.
