BlackBerry: BBM Channels officially coming out of beta today [UPDATED]

Just one month after launching its BBM for Android and iOS apps, BlackBerry will be celebrating another major launch. The company has announced that BBM Channels will officially be shedding its beta status today and will be made available to BlackBerry 10 and legacy BlackBerry OS users. BBM Channels will also make its way onto Android and iOS some time in the "coming months."

BBM Channels originally debuted in beta form back in May. The service allows users to follow people, bands, companies and other entities and receive updates and images from them. Regular users can also create a BBM Channels profile and build a following of their own. While there's definitely no shortage of ways for people to connect with their favorite celebrities and brands, BBM Channels looks like a nice social media option for folks that want something tightly integrated with their BlackBerry experience. The BBM Channels app is slated to go live at 3:00 p.m. today.

UPDATE: BBM Channels is now available as a part of an updated version of the BlackBerry Messenger app. You can grab that app from BlackBerry World right here. BlackBerry has also posted a walkthrough the explains how you can create your very own BBM Channel, which you can find here.
