What's the perfect display size for you?

Are you afraid of choice? I know that sounds like a strange question, but I'm serious. If you are, then I think a platform like iOS, or maybe even BlackBerry, is the best decision for you. Why? Because there aren't a lot of choices to make when it comes to the hardware the platform is available on. See? I told you it was a serious question.

One of the most common questions I receive, almost every day, is whether or not someone should go with "this device" over "that device." More often than it's a pair of devices with a ridiculous wide chasm between their display sizes. For example: "Should I pick up the Galaxy Note 3 or the iPhone 5s?" Or, "Would I be better off picking up the LG G2 or the HTC One mini?"

In those particular situations I'll bring up the specific platform at the very end, in a very minor way. As far as I'm concerned, even if you're trying to decide between whether or not you want to go with Android or iOS, it's not even about that when you're dealing with devices with different display sizes. And such a huge difference between the two, too.

If you ask me whether or not you should go with something with a 5.7-inch display versus a device with a 4-inch display, my main focus is going to be on the display. The mobile OS, features, and even some of the specifications are an afterthought. Why? Because the thing you're going to have to work with, deal with, and either enjoy or hate every single day more often than anything else on (or in) the phone is the display. Everything else is just a bonus. Icing on the big (or small) cake.

We see it all the time. We hear it all the time. Look at Nokia's recent announcement of the Lumia 1520. Some people said it's too big, and flat-out refused to buy it. Others thought it was just right, and couldn't wait to get their hands around it. And then there are some out there who sit right there in the middle, and will do their best to wait to make a decision until they actually get to use it for a little bit.

"I'll never use the Galaxy Note 3, it's too big."

"I'll never use the iPhone 5s, it's too small."

I used to have this impression that I could use any phone, as long as a few other details were in place. I'm not so sure that's the case anymore. I still use the iPhone 5s from time to time, but it's mostly because it's my fallback phone. I want a phone with a bigger display. At this point, I don't even care if it's an iPhone with a bigger display anymore. I just need something with a bigger screen. That's why the HTC One is still so close to my heart. I think, if I had to (and I'm assuming I do, given the moment), I'd say that 4.7-inches is my favorite screen size. The perfect size, even.

Don't get me wrong, the camera is still my most important feature and I'm more than positive that that's why I'm still using the iPhone 5s. But it's also why I can safely say that I'm still waiting for my perfect phone. Still waiting for the device that covers all the bases, and I'm not so much worried about what's "wrong" or "could be better," and instead loving every moment with it.

So, this is where I want you to tell me what you think the perfect screen size is. What phone do you refuse to use because it's too big, or too small? Did you buy your current phone because of the screen size, versus anything else on the market? Let me know!
