Google hasn't made any official announcements regarding new features or improvements that it's got planned for Android 4.4 KitKat, but it looks like the company has decided that its little green robot could use a little performance boost.
Google confirmed today that it's acquired FlexyCore, a French company behind an app called "DroidBooster" that promised to improve Android and its apps run more smoothly without causing an extra hit on battery life. The statement regarding the purchase that was given to GigaOM by a Google spokesperson is as follows:
“The FlexyCore team has strong expertise in building software to optimize Android device performance, and we think they’d be a great fit with our team.”
French publication L’Expansion has learned that Google began holding talks with FlexyCore back in September 2012 and that the deal was done last month, with Google reportedly agreeing to drop approximately €16.9 million ($23.1 million USD) on FlexyCore. While Google hasn't explicitly said exactly what FlexyCore will be doing as a part of the Mountain view team, the fact that El Goog bother to open up its checkbook for the firm should get Android fans excited for the little bugdroid's future.
