Apple sends out invitations for Oct. 22 event

Mark your calendars, Apple fans, because the date of the Cupertino firm's next event is officially set. Apple just sent out invitations to an event on Oct. 22. As you can see on the invitation received by The Loop, the company is teasing that it "still [has] a lot to cover." The shindig will take place at 10:00 a.m. PT in San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center.
Apple hasn't said exactly what it has planned for the event, but it's widely expected that Tim Cook and Co. will use the gathering to introduce its oft-leaked iPad 5 and iPad mini 2. The new full-size iPad will reportedly sport a new, iPad mini-like design with rounded edges and narrower bezels. Meanwhile, some reports have suggested that the refreshed iPad mini could feature a Retina display, but so far there hasn't been a ton of evidence to back that rumor up. Whatever Apple ends up showing at its Oct. 22 event, you can bet that I'll be bringing you all of the news as it happens, so keep it locked to PhoneDog for more!
