HTC Sense 5.5 screenshots leak, tease option to disable BlinkFeed and new Quick Settings features

HTC's Sense 5.5 update has managed to avoid the leaky spotlight thus far, but thanks to a big batch of images that just hit the Web, today's the day that we may finally start to get an idea of what the Taiwanese firm's got planned for the next update to its custom Android UI.

Posted to Android Revolution HD by well-known HTC ROM producer mike1986, the screenshots claim to show several new features that'll be included in HTC's Sense 5.5 refresh. BlinkFeed is expected to gain additional news categories, a custom topics tab and even a home screen option to disable BlinkFeed entirely.

The Quick Settings panel is also said to be undergoing some changes in Sense 5.5, including the addition of a "Do Not Disturb" button and the ability for users to rearrange the layout of the settings buttons to better suit their usage. Finally, Sense 5.5 reportedly includes enhancements to several built-in apps, such an improved HTC keyboard, new "Dual Camera" and "Panorama+" modes in the Camera app and a slightly-tweaked Recent Apps menu.

While still very much unconfirmed, the changes shown in these leaked screenshots certainly seem like enhancements that HTC could make include with Sense 5.5 in response to consumer feedback on Sense 5. For example, even though BlinkFeed doesn't need to be set as the Sense home screen, some folks simply don't care for the news reader and would probably appreciate the option to turn it off entirely. There's no word yet on when Sense 5.5 might actually begin rolling out to users, but the good news is that there are plenty of leaked images available to keep us occupied until more details surface.
