Official Smartphone Rankings - week 81

In week 81 on PhoneDog’s Official Smartphone Rankings, the Apple iPhone 5s displaced the HTC One from the first place position on the Expert’s Choice chart, ending a 26 week run for HTC’s flagship Android smartphone.  Available now on the four nationwide carriers in the United States, the iPhone 5s offers a fingerprint scanner for security purposes, an improved camera, and iOS 7.  Can Apple’s newest flagship distract attention from Android and Windows Phone?

MT PLEASANT, SC – September 25, 2013 – For 81 weeks, PhoneDog Media's Official Smartphone Rankings™ (OSR) has been the gold standard for ranking the best smartphones on the market by placing votes from readers and experts alike in respective charts each week.  Last week, the Apple iPhone 5s topped the HTC One on the Expert’s Choice chart, pushing the popular Android phone out of the first place position for the first time in 26 weeks.  Available in space gray, silver, and gold, the iPhone 5s is available at Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile.  Despite the change on the Expert’s Choice chart, HTC’s One remained in first place on the People’s Choice chart, obtaining a total of 294 reader votes.

The LG G2 moved into second place on the People’s Choice chart with 105 votes, while third place was awarded to the Samsung Galaxy Note II with a total of 85 votes.  The Galaxy S 4 dropped to fourth place on the People’s Choice chart with 62 votes, while the Apple iPhone 5s debuted in fifth place with 38 votes.  On the Expert’s Choice Chart, the HTC One fell to second place with 33 points, while the Samsung Galaxy S 4 dropped to third place with 27 points.  In fourth place, the Moto X, obtaining 21 points.  Rounding out the list in fifth place, the LG G2 with 18 points.  A new high-end smartphone, the LG G2 features a Snapdragon 800 processor and availability on multiple U.S. carriers.

“While the HTC One continues to perform well on the OSR, voters and experts alike are equally impressed with the most recent crop of high-end smartphones on the market, ” said Aaron Baker, Director of Content and Partnerships at PhoneDog.
