White Sony Honami appears in leaked photos next to iPhone 5, Xperia Z

Just hours after Sony sent out invitations to its Sept. 4 IFA 2013 press conference, one of the products that's expected to be shown at the event has leaked out.

Several images that claim to show a white version of the Sony "Honami" have been posted to Chinese forum Digi-Wo, including photos that compare the unannounced device to an iPhone 5 and Xperia Z. The Honami is quite a bit bigger than the iPhone 5, which isn't a shock considering that its got a 5-inch screen while the iPhone's display is 4 inches in size, and the shots also show that the Honami is just a hair taller than the Xperia Z's 139mm frame.

This isn't the first time that we've seen a white Honami, but it is the first time that we've seen the pale version of Sony's new phone in the wild. The photos show that the white version of the Honami will sport a two-toned look, just previous Xperia models, with a white rear panel and black front. A close-up of the device's rear camera shows both Sony's G Lens branding as well as confirmation of its 20.7-megapixel, 1/2.3-inch sensor. Another photo shows the Honami's side-mounted magentic docking pins that rest beneath some ports.

Along with its beefy rear camera, the Sony Honami is rumored to sport a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3,000mAh battery and the ability to record 4k video. Should all of those features hold true, it sounds Sony could have a pretty respectable flagship smartphone on its hands. Here's to hoping that Sony is able to get the Honami out the door and into consumers' hands shortly after its announcement so that the device doesn't get totally overshadowed by some other hotly-anticipated handsets.
